Woo hoo.... CNY is
finally over
CNY is always a tiring festival for me.. cheong here and there and giving out $$ everywhere i go :(( But this year's ang bao shrink a lot.. hahaha.. cause my mom also shrink, so i also shrink lor! she say all the kids all grow up and earning a lot of $$.. so no need to give so much liao... (i agree mom!!) wahahhahaa...
CNY Day 1:
7am: otw to mom house to help my mom cook..
As usual, my all time favourite dish voted by guests... FRIED PRAWNS! Mom bought about 2kg of prawns and i deep fry it and completed in 2 hours... this year, i had a chair right in front of the stove! hahaha... Tiring ok...
And the result?
Alvin help me count.. i got a total of 24 bumps from the "happy" oil... my mom see liao, she say.. "u wanna wrap ur hand with a cloth?" -.-'''
Its the first time after soooo many years that i kena this from the oil.. so we suspect that the helper that helped us peel the shells off the prawns didnt dry the prawn before storing it into the fridge... T^T
I told mom.. next year im gg to do-it-myself......
WE FINALLY FINISH COOKING!!!!!
This year, my auntie and family wont be coming to my plc cause her MIL jus passed away.. so cannot go visiting for 1 year... therefore, we were able to start the cooking later cause they always come at 9am... previous years, we have to reach mom place at 6+am to help cook liao...
And because of this, we cut down a lot on the portion and the varieties of dishes... but still taste as good!!

- Pig stomach soup
- mini abalone + sea cucumber + mushroom with oyster sauce
- 2 cans of abalone
- curry chicken (soooo good that i had it for 3 meals which is the reason for my sore throat now... :( )
- Ngoh Hiang
Previous year, we even had buddha jump over the wall and steamed ngoh fish etc...
My mom dont like preservatives or food off the rack.. so even the chicken and crab meat for shark's fin, she will steam it herself.. cause she say its fresher that way...
As for the curry, she pound the ingredients using the tradition stone thingy instead of blender cause she say the scent will come out...
Sea cucumbers she will wash them herself and she did that since Nov cause she will wash and gift to pple... she spends about 4 digit on that itself... -.-'''
Pig stomach, she will wash it with salt.. she dun believe in using pepsi... she say not clean de...
kekeke.. i wish i have more pics to share... but... we were too busy heating up the food cause we are not using stove but the traditional charcoal stove!! *faint*... thats another mi fang why the food taste good! :)
1pm: last batch of guests left.. we served food to about 20 over pax i think.. waahhahaa.. lost count... then off we prepare to go visiting at ah ma house at bishan
Wah... over 10 families were there... all of them are my aunties and cousins and little cousins.. imagine my cousin coaxing her son to call my grand ma ah chor! that is 3 generations in a house! too packed.. and we give ang bao until hand soft... wahahhaa... so we quickly set off the alvin uncle house...
BUT!!
My white pants got stained with the chocolate that my little little cousin left on the sofa!!!! T^T
then we faster go back home to wash the pants and change lor..
6+pm: Alvin's uncle house
Basically, we jus sat there as usual.. and we left about 7ish? then the cousins went to Dempsey's Ben & Jerry for ICE CREAM and....... CHEESE FRIES!!!! wah.. damn shiok....
